Informa Core Installation

This article describes the general process for installing your InGo widgets on a CORE event, and assumes that you are familiar with configuring events within InGo.

InGo Requirements

  • An existing event within Core

Core Requirements

  • The event must have a date set in the future.
  • The event must have at least one Tier 2 topic associated to it.
  • There can not be more than one linked Tier 1 topic on the entire event.
  • There must be at least one social media account added for the event. This can be checked by going to Marketing and then Social Media Accounts.

If there are multiple Tier 1 topics associated to the event, InGo event creation will fail on Core with an "Invalid Topic ID" error.

To fix this, please adjust your T2 topics until only a single T1 topic remains, as this will be tied to the InGo community where the event will be generated.

After your InGo event is created, you can re-add any removed T2 topics, even if they are tied to other T1 topics.

Get Started By Enabling Your InGo Integration

All InGo installations on Core begin through your Core event by navigating to the Marketing tab in your left-hand navigation.

Next, scroll down to the InGo Widgets section at the bottom of the page and then click on Manage to open up your InGo integration settings.

When on the InGo Widgets page, you will see two options at the top: Simple and Advanced. Simple will be selected by default and in most cases should be the option used.

Scrolling down you will also see a section for InGo IDs. By default, these will be blank when first setting up your integration.

Clicking on the Create InGo Event button will activate the integration and do two main things:

  • Automatically generate an event through InGo's backend
  • Automatically assign all relevant InGo IDs to their associated fields within Core

Please note that if any of the Core requirements have not been met, an InGo event will not be created and this action will fail.

To verify that this was successful, please scroll down and confirm that all five fields have now been populated.

Finally, return to the main Marketing page and scroll down to the bottom-right of your page. Activating InGo will unpublish the event, so please ensure you republish as soon as possible to prevent any interruption of service to your users.

And that's it! Your Core event now has InGo installed!

Checking Your New InGo Event

When a new InGo event is created through Core it can be found one of two ways:

  • Searching the exact name of the matching event in Core.
  • Visiting the Event Dashboard for the T1 topic for your event.
Once you've located the event, you'll want to scroll down to the Groups section and locate the Group listed in all caps. This may be listed as INFORMACONNECT or it may reflect the name of the overall event, however this is the Group that is actually connected to your Core event.

Any social post configuration such as adding graphics, images, and UTMs should be added to this Group.

Remember, if you are installing InGo onto Core you DO NOT need to create an InGo event manually. This will cause a duplicate to be created in the system and may cause confusion when configuring your event settings.

Reusing Core Events Each Year With InGo

If an event on Core is repurposed for the following year, a new InGo event will need to be created and re-linked. The same method can be following, by navigating to the InGo Widgets page on Core and re-clicking the Create InGo Event button if both of the following have occurred:

  • The event date on Core has been updated, such as changing the date from 2024 to 2025.
  • The name of the event on Core has changed.

Testing Your InGo Integration

Now that InGo has been installed into your event, we'll want to test things out to verify everything has been set up and is ready for your registrants to use. This step may vary from event to event, however in most cases you can first verify InGo is installed by visiting the registration website for your event, selecting a ticket type and then going to check out.

Prior to entering any information, users will be met with InGo's Login widget, which can be interacted with or bypassed. Seeing this widget will verify that InGo is up and running!
